Pores are all over our skin! They are tiny hair follicle openings which can be seen by the naked eye. These serve the purpose of allowing body toxins and perspiration to escape the body.
Enlarged pores are more visible on the skin’s surface. Skin aging or becoming oily causes it to loose elasticity and therefore becomes clogged with debris and pollution. This process makes it difficult for the skin to naturally get rid it self of these toxins.
People with large pores (such as myself) can be prone to breakouts. DIY remedies/masks were my preffered go to in these cases, often using an egg white mask to help clean and reduce the size of enlarged pores. This is a great mask with instant results but not a long lasting measure.
You can see the results immediately but they are not permanent.
Toners can be found to tighten skin and therefore prevents pores from being extremely visible. One of the best products I have used recently and noticed to make a difference is Paula’s Choice and Effaclar Duo Toner.
Wellbeing Medical Centre. Dubai.
However, I was in search of a more lasting or even permanent solution! I tend to do a lot of research before I trust a specialist with my skin. I like to recieve personalised advice which is specific to my skin and not the general mass population. I personally believe that treatment on the skin should be visible but not alter the appearance of it.
Dr. Olimpia Carmen, a laser specialist at Wellbeing Medical Centre suggested a combined treament of Dermapen micro-needling (a procedure that uses micro-needles to puncture the skin’s surface, stimulating the collagen formation naturally within the skin, this promotes new and healthy skin and also cleaner and tighter pores) and Spectra Laser strokes. (A process which uses a laser to aid skin restoration)
I trusted her and here are some photos during the procedure.
NOTICE: Photos are taken immediately before and after treatment and after the hydrating mask. 2 hours later the redness effect was disappeared. I do not have sensitive skin. Results may vary. Photos are taken without filter and make up.
I will be honest:
-
When is the best time to do it? I would definitely suggest in the evening
-
Remember: No make up, no cream, no scrub for at least 24 hours after treatment.
-
After the treatment all products, serums, creams that you use will penetrate better into the skin.
-
Results are initially seen in four to six weeks and full effect will take three months to develop.
Have you ever tried micro needling? If yes, leave me a comment and share your experience with us. If no, would you like to try it?
